We made it! Praise Jesus we arrived safely without incident in Entebbe, Uganda last night. We stayed the evening in the Manhattan Hotel :) and then departed this morning for the 5 hour journey by mini-bus to Gulu in northern Uganda. A few trip highlights:
~Meeting up with Barnabas and "Baby" Mitch (SOI staff members). They are so king, gracious, and excited to have us!
~Being joined by two of our sisters in Christ from the Hearts United Women's Team, Rita & Elza. We had a delightful trip with them as we exchanged cultural tidbits. Fun! We are thrilled to be able to spend loads of time with them in the next few weeks!
~First bathroom trip in the Ugandan bush. Fun times. :)
~ Crossing the Nile River. It was beautiful!
~Feeding baboons out of our car. MOM - wildlife!!! :)
~Eating street meat: yummy goat!
~Lunch at Aloysius & Esther's house. We have heard so very much about them so we were excited and ready to meet them. They exude the Love and Peace of Christ. We are blessed!
~Jacey is a young American woman working for SOI in Gulu. She has been taking us around, explaining food, culture, schedule, etc. to us. We have already rewarded her with her very own jar of American peanut butter. :)
We are staying in a very simple but nice and safe hotel. Gulu has a very peaceful, small-town feel to it. Wish you were all here! :)
Thank you for all your prayers! Holly and I were commenting today that we really felt them during our travel days and into today. We are all at peace in this place and have a sweet sense of calling and purpose already in the things we are looking forward to doing. Thank you for the love and prayers and praise God for all His lavish blessings in our lives!
First thing on the agenda tomorrow: 4 hours of Ugandan church! Be jealous. :)
We love you, we pray for you
In the Peace of Jesus Christ,
Sarah (for all the sleepy/happy puffs)
